This Saturday (22 August) BRANDED!’s Sarah Cantrill is rowing a half marathon for Stroke Association, in honour of her sister-in-law.

Just 8 weeks into lockdown, Sarah’s sister-in-law, Louise, suffered a serious stroke due to a blood clot, causing her to lose all movement down her right-hand side and her voice. As a result, Louise has been in and out of intensive care, and undergone speech therapy and physiotherapy.

Unable to visit her family due to coronavirus restrictions, Sarah wanted to do something to help Louise and others in a similar unfortunate position. With a passion for rowing, she decided to turn her hobby into a fundraising challenge. Sarah is hoping to raise a total of £5,000 for Stroke Association, a charity who works to prevent stroke and supports those touched by stroke, fund research, and campaign for the rights of stroke survivors.

An update from Sarah reveals that Louise is “now able to walk with the aid of people at her side and has regained some of her speech.” With continued support and donations, Louise and her family can begin to rebuild their lives.
